Two months in ten minutes.

Well it november, and life is starting to get back to normal. ( as normal as things ever get around here). We had a great fall season, so many laughs with such great customers. Really makes it a joy.

We added some new items to the stand this year. Like our How Tall This Fall Growth Chart.

Also added our new black cat.

Melody came up with some awesome carvings.

We had many familys taking pictures.

And one of the highlights for me was June mastered riding on two wheels!!!!

As every year, we had to carve our pumpkins late the night before halloween. But we had a great time and they turned out great. The kids always having a hard time picking their pumpkin, even when they think they have found the perfect pumpkin another always makes them reconsider.

Everyone was excited to cut in to them...

Some people where more excited to get in them...

Even Mel's brother couldn't resist the carving fun.

Melody got her day at grand forks to get clearance Halloween items. We had to pull her kicking and crying from the stores as she screamed just two more things PLEASEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

We had the fall clean up fire and party, with the risk on rain in the forecast some people wimped out of attending, but for the ones that did we had a great time and some awesome fireworks by a huge warm toasty fire.

Usually pumpkin talk ends for a few weeks this time of year, but it hasn't yet. And with seed catalogues showing up next week i am sure pumpkins will be a regular topics all year.

We have many new ideas planned for next year. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the pumpkin patch again.

Feels so good to see it coming to a end.....

Just a quick catch up of what is going on, then off to bed.
We have been busy picking pumpkins, i am please to say i am a little shocked by how much we are finding in some of the fields considering how challanging this year was.

Feels good to see pumpkin bins coming in from the field.

The frost caughts us a little of guard once again this year. And found us rushing to pick tomatos and get gourds cut. We have been picking up pumpkins till dark every night and looks like a few more evenigs and we will be done.
Then the field will be ready to be mowed and worked.

The Highlight of the last few weeks has been June mastering riding on two wheels, Her and I are both very proud.

But now it is off to bed, as Pumpkin Boot Camp start at 7:30 tomorrow morning when the school bus leaves the driveway.

Photo Dump.....

Well it is the end of august and it has started again.....

Melody: There is no way these pumpkins will be ready in time.

George: We have 30 days and things really grow fast now, trust me.

Melody: There is no way look how small lots of it is.

George: Remember you said the same thing last year.

Melody: But this year everything is smaller.

George: No it's not.

Melody: yes it is.

You get the idea, someone is going to be eating their words. While the other enjoys some pumpkin pie.

Time to catch up....

So its been two weeks since our last post, and there has been alot going on.

We started selling corn this weekend, and considering how dry of year it's been it tastes great.

We found this sunflower hiding out in the corn field as we picked.

Beans are ready!!!!

Pumpkins are growing great, yes we still really need a rain, but i am starting to give up on even hoping for it. Every forecast with rain in it never produces anything. Or just a few drops. Things are growing good, can only imagine how it would be with water.

We had two very sad days here, Shadow had a very sad encounter with JD the dog, you could tell witch was very affected by what happened to his brother and had a incident with the car the following day. It saddened everyone, its amazing how much they touched our hearts in such a short time.

We where then face with the decision of replacing them or no kittens, because they are going to live outside in the buildings we want them to be grown alittle by winter. So we have since gotten 3 kittens, they are Fluffy, Luna and Buttercup. They where farm kittens and where very nervous around humans. They are now starting to relax around us and even coming up to us to be petted now and then.

We have had about 20 baby koi born at the pond at my moms house.
We enjoyed what we called our first annual Back Yard Camp Out. We had a Bonfire and watched some movies in the back yard on a projector screen, had some fireworks and birthday cakes and many laughs with good friends. A awful sleep on the ground, but a great night.

And finally after many years of 2 or 3 apples we finally got to make a Apple pie from our tree, actually so far 2 apple pies and some apple muffins and some really yummy apple muesli.

We will be starting to pick some tomatoes this week, and as you know hoping for rain. And just incase this post is a little low on how many times i talked about rain.....Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain, there that should have it sounding like every other post from this year.

Thank you rain for washing away so many worries.

Well we started the long weekend with so many plans of the fun things we wanted to do. But the need to continue watering and weeding some problem areas seemed to take over most of the weekend. It was hot and humid but with out this extra attention this year, lots would be dead.

We found ourselves working till dark each evening, expect for sunday night when a last minute bonfire with friends got planned, on a beautiful evening.

No matter how many hours we have to put in this year, we always find a way to laugh and enjoy our time in the pumpkin patch.

Meldoy, Autumn and I have been working on our mountain bike trail in the tree line, moving mud and trimming back lower branches. It is getting better everyday.

Our apple tree has a great fruit set this year, already planning the pie we will be able to bake with them.

We are finding some smaller pumpkins in the field, and many grounds and squash taking shape. Really gives hope, we just need the moisture on a regular basis to help set the fruit now. And so fair the forecast looks great.

Enjoyed monday morning with a little relaxing and baking some fresh muffins, before the day of work got started.

But with out a doubt, the high light of the weekend would have been the clouds that rolled in monday night and finally let some rain fall on us. We sat on the deck enjoying it as the kids played in it, and june ran around screaming, IT'S ACTUALLY RAINING!!!!!!!

Summer Fun......

Well we have moved past the heat wave, but we haven't seen much in the way of rain. We are dumping tank after tank of water on the field and keeping our fingers crossed.

It's amazing how much water can pour down the cracks in the ground before they are even able to fill up. We could handle so much rain right now.

So we have been busy making the most of the short summer time we get to enjoy when pumpkin plants aren't taking it up. We enjoyed friday evening going out for pizza and at a walk around assinibone park and hanging out around the new kids park.

Saturday had the looks that we may get some rain( but we ending up with nothing more then a mist) so we took JD for a run and swim around Oak Hammock Marsh.

Then headed up to gimli saturday evening to try to catch the movie on the beach at dark, but it was cancelled due to the wind begin to strong. We did get to enjoy a lovely walk along the beach at sunset watching the waves break on the shore.

All we can do now is enjoy the great weather and hope we get a day of rain soon.

Well pumpkins are starting to vine and set some fruits. Its always exciting this time of year the growing year to try to guess the type of each plant as things start to form. Another 2 weeks and everything should start vining together, so we are in a last minute weeding rush trying to catch up on the areas that got a little out of hand.

We are still crossing our fingers for some rain, it now seems to be falling all around us, but here, hopefully this weekend.

We were awoken tuesday morning to the sound of thunder. We ran to the window hoping to see a down pour but it was shortly lived. But we did find this guy as we headed out to the field. We was unable to fly and was hopping around in the trees. We called conservation to see if they should help him. By the time they got out here we was able to fly 50 feet or so. The guy from conservation figures the lighting and thunder probably caused it to hit a tree as he was hunting. We didn't see him at all wednesday but did see him fly up this morning as we drove out to the field.

And it looks like june may be joining the circus as she is spending hours training the cats with tricks.

Making plans for the weekend, hope your summer is going as good as ours.
